There are three main streets (or sois) for gays in Bangkok which are also of great interest for gay tourists: Suriwongse, Silom, and Sathorn. Those streets are not only for gays but are popular areas for visiting tourists or expat community. You find there everything that you will need: rooms, drinking, dining, dancing, spas, and saunas. Everything is within walking distance (or nearly).
On Suriwongse Road Soi Duangthawee you will find the boy go-go bars. Have some nice dinner at Maxis Restaurant or Dick’s Café for some Thai or western food before hitting the bars. You need first to make yourself fresh? Get a facial at Up2 Hair and Beauty salon which is also known for other related services.
Silom is the most famous road with the most to see and three sois offer some great gay venues. Silom Soi 2, features the popular DJ Station and other pubs and is very popular among the Thai community, making it the most popular soi on Silom. Two minutes walk from there is Silom Soi 2/1, where G.O.D nightclub (for after-parties) is located. Four minutes away is Silom Soi 4, with Telephone Pub, Balcony Pub, and Sphinx Restaurant; all serving nice food.
While in Thailand you should take advantage of what Thailand is also famous for: Thai massage. In between Silom and Sathorn Road, several massage shops offer different kinds of traditional and Thai massage to relax. After having relaxed, check out Eat Me Restaurant or Coyote Restaurant for some fine diner on Soi Convent.
The Sathorn area is spread out, and you will find many places to enjoy. There is the world famous Babylon Sauna with its fantastic sauna and guesthouse. Several massage shops are spread out up and down Sathorn Road.
Most first time tourists in Thailand know Silom, Sathorn and Suriwongse Roads but they represent only 15% of the gay scene in Bangkok. There are quite a lot of areas where groups of gay venues are located.
Another very popular and very busy gay area in Thailand is Ramkhamhaeng (Lamsalee) located out on Ramkhamhaeng Road, Soi 89/2. You will find a great number of clubs and pubs. The main difference with the previous mentioned Road is that there are very few tourists or foreigners in general but casual foreigner and expat are very welcome. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed also because Thais don’t need to worry about being seen as a “money boy” by foreign tourist. It might seem to be a bit far away from Silom area by taxi, but you will not regret it.
Around Saphan Kwai (Pradiphat) you will find mostly karaoke pubs and some saunas such as Farose, I Sauna, Adonis Sauna, Eagle Pub, Adam Karaoke, Charming Pub, and Stax.
This is where the Thais go looking for a young man to spend the evening with, or go to a sauna to “relax.” Located between Aree and Saphan Kwai BTS, it is very easy to get to.
Keep in mind that unlike Silom which is really tourists focused, this is a Thai area with Thai culture and rules and even if foreigners are welcome they have to be very respectful and not considering anybody as moneyboys or taking it for granted that everybody is looking for a foreigner to go home with.
